Lessons learnt about content scaling

Take my content scaling cheat sheet.

Hey!

Two truths for you today.

  1. You need more content

  2. AI is coming for us.

Luckily for you, I have spent +2,300 hours building and testing a system that wrangles AI into making more content for you.

To save you literally 3 months of your life, here’s my hi-res pdf cheat sheet on the whole process.

Now, the fun part. Lessons I’ve learnt from implementing this over the last year.

One. The entire process is dependant on your keyword research

You have nothing to write if you don’t have good keywords.
The main thing you need to keep in mind though is you don’t care about search volume, or keyword difficulty.

These numbers don’t matter.

If they did, we would have never made this article. Which ranks in the top ten. With no backlinks.

We have no links. The article is much “younger” than everyone else and was published on a new site. It went live with relevant data and internal links.

Don’t be afraid to go after some chunky keywords. Internal links and content going live as a whole topic can net you some great SERP results.

Two. Understand your bottlenecks

The process works.
But, people don’t always work the process.

The main thing I see slowing this whole thing down is people not knowing how to use whatever organisation system you set up.

We have one in Coda. I’ve tested it with +50 clients at this point. And I update it every time.

Sometimes it’s adding a button to speed things up. Could be removing a button. Or adding a label. Or better headings on pages etc.

Or a Loom to show how to use the page.

Do not take for granted that the processes are understood by your team. Get them to confirm they understand it.

Your job, if you’re managing this, is to trust your team.

Three. Don’t be scared to delete things

You’re using Penfriend.ai to make the content. It’s not always going to be a home run. As rare as it is, sometimes it just doesn’t click with the article you published.

DELETE IT.

Just get rid of it and start again.
Let’s be strategic about it, I trust your URL is 👌, so we'll just delete all the content on the page and replace it with another try.

This is one of the biggest benefits of using Penfriend to make your content. The price isn't anywhere as prohibitive as it would otherwise be.

You get to try again.
And again
And again
If needed.

Four. Keep a library of your insights

When going through the YOURS process for editing, you will come across insights that make sense in multiple blogs.

Keep a document of them. It helps speed up the process when editing articles.

We’ve been using Featured for PR and backlinks and it has a library of all our insights from there. I’ll do a quick search of anything relevant in there and take that quote for us to copy into our articles.

Instant Experience to add to a blog.

Helps with EEAT so much.

If you want the full run-down on how to do this, here’s the 6,105 word article I wrote on this entire process. Nothing held back.

How you can use all this?

  1. Use the cheatsheet to update your own internal processes now and see what you can speed up with a few prompts and processes.

  2. Sign up to Penfriend.ai to get your first draft content taken care of.

  3. I’m taking advising clients if you want me to run this entire process for you. I’ve helped +50 clients with it over the last year to the tune of $15M revenue from organic.

Have a great Wednesday!
